The map shows the new estuary of the Vistula river, created in February 1840 as a result of an ice jam, flood and flooding the region around the village of Górki (Neufähr). The new estuary, on the map called "Die Danziger Weichsel", was called the Śmiała Wisła in the publication "Na lodach, na wyspie, na groblach : trzy obrazki znad Bałtyku" by Wincenty Pol, who was here in 1842.
